Australia - Lapband Surgery Surge

According to the Herald-Sun newspaper, six times as many people are booking in for Lap-band surgery as there were 5 years ago. In Victoria, Australia, there is currently up to a two year waiting list.

As we all know, we aussies are especially fond of our barbecues; but Australian patients may be dissapointed as red meat is usually off the menu after having the operation! The article quotes one post-op patient as stating that she hasn't had a steak since the operation in 2002. Her diet, like that of many others, consists mainly of childs sized, easily digestable meals.

The only meat that she can comfortably eat has to be minced.
